Gailenberg is a district of Bad Hindelang in the Allgäu , which is about 989 m above sea level.
Attractions
According to an inscription on the choir arch, the St. Sylvester Chapel was built in 1623. Repair work is attested to in 1887, and the chapel was renovated in 1947. The steep gable roof has wooden eaves. The two-sided roof turret ends in an octagonal pointed helmet. The entrance is on the gable side under an arched arch. The ship has a square floor plan and barrel vaults with two oval frame stucco circles. In the extract, under the carving of a holy spirit dove, there is the oval image of St. Apollonia . On the predella is a painting from the 18th century showing the poor souls in purgatory . The altarpiece from 1946 is by Christian Modersohn and represents the church patron. The console figures from around 1670 to 1680 that were once integrated into the altar are now on the walls. The high baroque works depict Mary as Queen of Heaven between two angels and Saint Dominic and Catherine of Siena . Older is the painting with the Coronation of Mary, donated by Jerg and Christa Zeller in 1629 and probably created by the same master as the brotherhood altar portrait by Altmummen . The pews in the chapel date from the 18th century and were left unmounted. The stations of the cross, which were probably designed by Johann Konrad Eberhard in the classical style, are dated to around 1800 .
Farmhouse No. 10, a shingled log building, dates from the late baroque period.
Known residents
Ilse Hess lived in Gailenberg after the Second World War.
From 1930 to 1957, several generations of the Modersohn artist family lived and worked in Gailenberg. Otto Modersohn's picture Vorfrühlingsmorgen from 1933 shows the view from Gailenberg towards Hinterstein . In 1950 Christian Modersohn painted the evening mood on Gailenberg with watercolors .
