Gaisruck (also gentlemen, barons, counts of Gaisruckh) is the name of a Styrian noble family originating in Switzerland , which u. a. belongs to the Lower Austrian rural nobility and also branched out in Carinthia and Carniola .

history

Origin and possessions

The Gaisrucker are an old Styrian family that originally came from Switzerland. Adolf (Ortlob) von Gaisruck immigrated to Styria in the 14th century. He bought Buchenstein Castle . With his wife Concordia von Lindegg , he was the founder of his family, whose uninterrupted line begins around 1319. This alliance is also reflected in the increased coat of arms of the following family members.

Eppenstein Castle with Farrach Castle

The Sidenitsch family was the owner of the already ruinous Eppenstein Castle , which was merged with the Farrach dominion . They sold the administratively no longer needed and heavily indebted Eppenstein in 1754 to Anton Graf Gaisruck. He in turn sold it to the Barons von Sessler-Herzinger in 1840.

Silberegg Castle

Silberegg Castle was sold by Hans Leonhard Freiherr von Windischgrätz in 1629, presumably in the course of the Counter Reformation . Georg-Sigmund von Ambthofen from Mauterndorf became the new owner. In 1632 he received the concession to build a stucco hut in Silberegg and had his daughter Maria Elisabeth as the only heir. This in turn was married to Christoph Andreas Freiherr von Gaisruck. The family did not sell to Josef Gassarister von Pfeilheim until 1763 under Franz Kajetan Freiherr von Gaisruck.

Ennobling and dynastic marriages

The aristocratic family achieved the status of imperial count (imperial count of Gaisruck). The Gaisrucker connected through dynastic marriages with some noble families such as B. those of Eibiswald , Weißpriach and Steinpeiss . With the death of Count Josef von Gaisruck (* 1775), Landstand in Lower Austria, Carniola, Carinthia, Knight of Honor of the sovereign Order of St. John, Imperial Councilor, the von Gaisruck expired on March 12, 1862 in the male line .
