Life

Individual stations of his career, which he completed in the first quarter of the 2nd century, are known through an inscription.

Clemens initially worked four times as Praefectus fabrum for one or more senators. Afterwards he was installed by Trajan as praefectus iure dicundo in Attidium to represent the emperor, whom the decurions of the city had chosen as Duumvir .

This was followed by his military career, which consisted of the usual tres militiae for a member of the equestrian order . He was first prefect of the Cohors VII Raetorum equitata , which was stationed in the province of Germania superior . He then took over as the military tribune of the Cohors II Ulpia Petraeorum milliaria equitata . The third stage was the post of prefect of the Ala Petriana milliaria civium Romanorum bis torquata , which was stationed in the province of Britannia .

After finishing his military career, Clemens took on positions in administration. He was initially procurator Augusti ad Miniciam ; the post was linked to an annual income of 60,000 sesterces . In this role he was responsible for the free distribution of grain to eligible Roman citizens in porticus Minicia . Then he was in the province of Aegyptus as procurator Augusti and epistratege responsible for the administrative districts of Heptanomia and Nomos Arsinoites ; this post was also associated with an annual income of 60,000 sesterces.

Clemens was inscribed in the Tribus Lemonia . He came from Attidium in Umbria , where the inscription was found.
