Gaius Papirius Maso was a Roman politician and military officer of the 3rd century BC. Chr.

As the only representative of his branch of the papiers , he could reach the consulate . As consul of the year 231 BC BC he defeated the rebellious Corsicans . Since the Senate denied him a triumph , he was the first Roman to celebrate it on Mons Albanus . Because he led the Romans to victory over the Corsicans on a myrtle field , he wore a myrtle wreath.
