Galactosides

A galactoside is a glycoside that contains galactose . In a hydrolysis galactose is released. Galactosides are e.g. B. Lactose , XGal and some glycosylated proteins (e.g. in the AB0 system ). The B-galactosidase and lactase are enzymes which hydrolyze galactosides.
