Basic forms of the service suit (Germany)

The Bundeswehr today differentiates between the service suit in the large and the "small" form (the latter is colloquial; officially it is called large service suit or service suit basic form). The service suit in the basic form (also called little servant ) is worn with a uniform jacket and low shoes. You can also order the omission of the jacket, the omission of the tie (if the shirt is exchanged for a shirt with short sleeves) or a sweater over the shirt (if the uniform jacket is omitted). As a uniform for certain official events and military ceremonies (for example the solemn vow of those doing military service) the large service suit with belt and combat boots (except navy) and a combat helmet instead of a beret, cap or cap is ordered.

Depending on the armed forces ( army , air force or navy ), the service suits differ in design, badge and headgear.

Female soldiers wear a long dark blue skirt with a white blouse (on the right collar of the federal eagle) with a long scarf crossed over the chest and over it a short dark blue velvet jacket. As a modification, a short, white silk jacket in conjunction with a blue blouse is permitted.

Male soldiers wear the basic formal suit ( black cloth for the army or dark blue cloth for the air force, navy) , consisting of a jacket with a chain fastener, trousers with black (army) / dark blue (air force, navy) silk galons and a black torero band (army, air force) or cummerbund (Army, Air Force, Navy). A white tuxedo shirt (with a concealed button placket, without a stand-up collar, ruffles and embroidery), a black bow tie and black, smooth shoes or patent leather shoes are worn. As a modification, a black (Army) or blue (Air Force / Navy) tuxedo jacket with a black / dark blue silk shawl collar and epaulettes covered with black / dark blue blue satin (Army, Air Force) can be worn. The rank symbols are worn on the epaulettes in an embroidered form. The jacket is worn without cuffs, collar tabs or other colored markings. In the Navy, the rank badges are on the sleeves. Activity, achievement and special badges are often worn in the embroidered version, medals and decorations in the miniature version on the ribbon.
