Service uniform for German fire brigades

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In addition to the operational clothing , the service clothing of the fire services also includes a service uniform for the German fire services . Colloquially, this dress uniform is also called a service suit or dress suit. Most members of the fire brigade, especially members of voluntary fire brigades, only wear the service uniform on special occasions. In the case of fire brigade employees, it is their daily work clothing, unless the respective authority regulates otherwise.

Components

The service uniform basically consists of:

  • Peaked cap
  • Uniform jacket
  • Uniform pants
  • Uniform shirt
  • binder
  • Shoes and stockings (usually have to be bought yourself)

in women there may also be deviations in the form of:

  • Women's hat
  • Uniform skirt
  • Kerchief
  • Ladies blouse

Additional clothing can be:

  • Body strap / belt
  • Gloves
  • Uniform coat
  • Uniform parka / anorak
  • Uniform blouse
  • Uniform sweater with shoulder flaps
  • Uniform cardigan
  • Fleece and softshell jacket

Wearing occasions

The service uniform may only be used for official purposes. These occasions can be:

  • Annual general meeting
  • Honors from comrades
  • Courses at the state fire brigade schools or at district or local level
  • Meetings of the fire service associations
  • Meeting of the heads of the fire departments
  • Referees at competitions

However, it is also worn as work clothing by fire service employees of the supervisory authorities and state fire service schools in their daily work. The higher a member is in the hierarchy of the fire department, the more often they wear the service uniform.

Ranks and awards

The rank of a fire brigade member can be seen on the shoulder flaps of the uniform jacket or uniform shirt / women's blouse. Depending on the state guidelines on awarding the ranks, a level of training can also be derived. However, this is not always the case, especially with older comrades it may be that they have a rank that they would not receive according to the current guideline. In this case, however, the protection of the existing status takes effect, degradation due to a change in the law is not permitted.

In addition to the ranks, special functions can also be worn on the sleeve, such as B .: Mission functions

Administrative functions

Furthermore, the awards received can be worn over the left breast pocket and a pendant with the national coat of arms can be worn on the left breast pocket. The regulations of the respective federal state and the guidelines for the presentation and wearing of awards apply.

Decrees, regulations and ordinances

Most of the federal states in Germany have a decree, ordinance or regulation on wearing work clothing. These regulate the wearing of a service suit, the only exceptions are the city states of Berlin, Bremen and Hamburg. In addition to the regulation that the service uniform is part of the work clothing, the components and their properties are also regulated. In addition, the manner in which awards are worn and the ranks of the fire brigade members are also usually regulated. If a federal state does not determine how to wear the awards itself, the direct application of the guideline of the German Fire Brigade Association for the presentation and wearing of awards is obvious.
