Intelsat Americas 8 (also called IA-8 ) is a communications satellite owned by the International Telecommunications Satellite Consortium (Intelsat). He was launched into orbit on June 23, 2005 aboard a Zenit 3SL rocket from a floating launch site. It is the first Intelsat satellite whose reception area covers the entire North American continent.

Americas 8 provides capacities for TV and radio reception as well as for telecommunications , Internet and multimedia services.

Americas 8 can be received in North America , Alaska , Hawaii , South America, and the Caribbean . The transmission takes place in the C-, Ku- and Ka-Band.
