Galaxy Express is a garage rock band from South Korea . It was founded in 2006 and quickly became known for its energetic stage presence. Galaxy Express won acclaim from the New York Times , MTV Iggy and other international media. Lead guitarist / vocalist Park Jong-hyun previously played in the band Mogwai and bassist / vocalist Lee Ju-hyun was a former member of the street punk band Rux , the Oi! -Band Captain Bootbois and the punk band Ghetto Bombs .

She founded the Love Rock Company label together with the Korean rock band Telepathy . The 2010 album Wild Days was written and recorded in just one month as a kind of public social media experiment.

International appearances

Galaxy Express played the SXSW twice . Her first appearance at this festival in Austin (Texas) was part of the Seoulsonic Tour 2011 alongside Idiotape and Vidulgi Ooyoo , on which a fuse blown due to their energetic performance. They returned to SXSW alone in 2012, which gave them the freedom to tour North America more freely. On this tour they shared the stage with Crying Nut , 3rd Line Butterfly and Yellow Monsters . There were other appearances in the United States, Canada, France, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Her travels were documented in the film Turn It Up to 11, Part 2: Wild Days (2012).

Substance abuse charges

Lee Ju-hyun was arrested on July 2, 2013 for possession of marijuana . At that time, Galaxy Express was taking part in the Mnet casting show Band Generation and had made it into the final round, in which they were supposed to compete against Daybreak and Romantic Punch . The arrest caused Mnet to cancel the final appearance. Lee was previously arrested for drug possession.
