Hans Walter Lorang

Hans Walter Lorang (* 1945 ) is a dialect poet , singer and songwriter from Saarland .

Life

Lorang was born during the evacuation of the Berus community shortly after the end of World War II . He spent the first ten years of his life from 1945 to 1955 in Berus, where he also attended elementary school. In 1955 he moved to Diefflen . He graduated from high school in 1964 in Dillingen / Saar . At Saarland University , he completed a teaching degree for secondary school. He then worked as a secondary school teacher, as vice-principal and in teacher training. He wrote didactic essays on geography and was a moderator and co-author of a geography textbook.

At the beginning of the 1980s he presented Moselle Franconian songs and dialect texts to a larger audience for the first time. Since then, Lorang has appeared beyond the borders of the Saarland through the publication of audio carriers and volumes of poetry as well as numerous appearances at concerts, on radio and television. The musician Richard Bauer accompanies Lorang musically and also writes and arranges the music for Lorang's texts.

Lorang is a member of several associations that are committed to the maintenance and promotion of dialect, such as the Bosener Group literature colloquium , the Lorraine dialect association Gau un Griis: Association pour la défense et la promotion du francique , the Mundartring e. V .: Association for the maintenance of dialects in Saarland and at the International Dialect Institute, Institute for Regional Languages ​​and Cultures . Lorang has been living in Berus again since 1998.
