The Galilei Academy of Sciences and Arts in Padua ( it. Accademia galileiana di scienze, lettere ed arti ) is one of the oldest still existing academies in Europe.

history

The Galilei Academy of Sciences and Arts goes back to the Accademia dei Ricovrati ( Latin Societas Recuperatorum ), which was founded in 1599 by the later Cardinal Federico Baldissera Bartolomeo Cornaro with 25 scholars, including Galileo Galilei . The academy gave itself its current name in honor of its prominent founding member in 1997. Like all educational institutions inspired by Renaissance humanism , it aims to bring together outstanding personalities from society, art, the natural sciences and the humanities for a fruitful exchange, following the example of the Platonic Academy . The administration is located in the Loggia dei Carraresi .
