The Museum Gamle Bergen (German Old Bergen ) is an open-air museum in Bergen in Norway ( fylke Vestland ). It is located in the Sandviken district.

The museum is now part of the Bergen City Museum . It houses around 50 wooden houses that were built between 1700 and 1800. The aim of its foundation was to preserve part of the city of Bergen with its streets, squares and alleys as Europe's largest wooden city once looked like in the 18th century. The ensemble consists of private houses from different eras, including a large number of shops and workshops, such as bakers, merchants, watchmakers, fishermen, dentists and hairdressers.

Gamle Bergen was opened in 1949 by Foreningen Gamle Bergen , which had already acquired some areas around the old summer house in Elsesro in 1935.

From 1941 to 1971 the architect Kristian Bjerknes was director of the museum.
