from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gantuoyan site ( Chinese  感 驮 岩 遗址 , Pinyin Gǎnduòyán yízhǐ ) is an archaeological site in Napo County (那 坡 县) in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, People's Republic of China. It is a Neolithic cave site . The site was explored by the Zhuangund Autonomous Region Archaeological Group of the Napo County Museum.

The discovered objects come from two phases:

The first phase is from the late Neolithic , dated 5,000 before today. Pottery, stone and bone artifacts were discovered.

The second phase roughly corresponds to the Shang period and is dated to 3,000-2,800 before today.

The site is of great value in chronological order of prehistoric cultural development in Southwest Guangxi and exploring its connections to other cultures in Southeast Asia during this period.

The Gantuoyan site has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-171) since 2006 .

The archaeologist Wei Jiang (韦 江) researched an iron seal excavated there and other relics.
