Garbahaarrey (also written Garbahaarreey , Garbaharey or Garba Harre ) is a city in southern Somalia and the capital of the Gedo region .

Garbahaarrey is not far from the borders with Kenya and Ethiopia , west of the Jubba River .
population
The approximately 12,000 inhabitants belong mainly to the Marehan subclan of the Darod , to which the former Somali president and dictator Siad Barre also belonged.
Barre himself stated that he was born in Garbahaarrey in 1919. According to other sources, however, he was born in Shilabo in Ogaden , Ethiopia and later reported Garbahaarrey in order to get a post in the colonial administration of Italian Somaliland . He was buried here after his death in 1995.
