Garden house Ackerstraße 7

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The garden house at Ackerstraße 7 was a residential building in Magdeburg in what is now Saxony-Anhalt . The no longer preserved building was considered a monument .

location

It was located on the south side of Ackerstrasse in the Leipziger Strasse district .

Architecture and history

The half-timbered house was built as a farm house. In 1810 the building was rebuilt. The interior of the building was changed and a slightly protruding octagonal tower was added to the eastern gable . The tower had a veranda on the ground floor and a hall on the upper floor. In front of the hall was a balcony resting on two columns. The tower was crowned with a curved, copper-covered dome. The wide hood was covered with dormer windows on three sides .

modern development, 2020

At least in the 20th century, the building was no longer part of a farm, but was run as a garden house. Stables and farm buildings were also still there, but served other purposes. The building was considered the last building of its kind in this area, which was originally characterized by such farmhouses. In 1961 it was still designated as a monument. It is no longer mentioned in publications from the 1990s, so it can be assumed that it disappeared during the GDR era .

Today (as of 2020) the property facing the street is built on with modern residential buildings, the garden area is undeveloped.
