Gary Baseman (* 1960 in Los Angeles , California , USA ) is an American cartoonist , artist and illustrator .

Baseman graduated from the University of California ( UCLA ) with a Phi Beta Kappa degree in 1982 .

Baseman is one of the inventors and executive producers of the ABC / Disney TV animation series Teacher's Pet , which won the Emmy for best daytime animation series and a British Emmy ( BAFTA ) for best international children's program two years in a row .

Baseman's illustrations appeared and a. in Time , Rolling Stone , Gentlemen's WorldGQ , The New Yorker , and the New York Times .

The National Portrait Gallery in Washington and the Museum of Modern Art in Rome show Baseman's works in their permanent exhibitions. However, Baseman also exhibits his painting in his own gallery exhibitions in New York , Los Angeles , Rome and Tokyo . He lectures at internationally renowned universities such as the School of Visual Arts in NY, the Royal College of Art in London and the Art Center in LA.

Baseman quickly became well known in the urban vinyl scene with his characters Dumb Luck and Fire Water Bunny. Baseman has been invited to various designer toy series, including several works by Dunny.
