Gary Hannig

Gary Hannig (born July 22, 1952 in Litchfield , Illinois ) is an American politician .

After graduating from Mount Olive High School , Hannig studied at the University of Illinois . He finished his studies with a Bachelor of Science degree . On January 10, 1979, he succeeded Junie Bartulis in the Illinois House of Representatives for the 98th District. Before leaving the House of Representatives, he was Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Majority Group ( Deputy Majority Leader ).

In February 2009, Governor Pat Quinn appointed Hannig as Secretary of Transportation for the State of Illinois.

Hannig is Roman Catholic and married to Betsy Hannig , who will succeed him as a member of parliament.
