Gaspare Mainardi

Gaspare Mainardi (born June 1800 in Abbiategrasso, Milan , † March 9, 1879 in Lecco ) was an Italian mathematician .

Gaspare Mainardi studied in Milan and Pavia and in 1822 became an assistant and then professor at the University of Pavia. He taught at the Collegium Ghislieri and at the seminary at the same time. Mainardi dealt among other things with differential geometry . The Mainardi-Codazzi equations for the theory of surfaces in three-dimensional space are named after him. He was a member of the Accademia dei Lincei .
