The Gasthaus zur Schranne is a building in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen market in Upper Bavaria . The house is a listed building on the basis of the Monument Protection Act of October 1, 1973, the file number is D-1-80-117-89.

The property was first built in 1610. The first building was a box for handling grain. Hence the current name Schranne . The municipality of Garmisch acquired the property around 1840 in order to house an infirmary, a shed for fire extinguishers, a hay scales and a restaurant. During a renovation in 1854, the building caught fire, in which eight other houses in the area burned down. The entire house was destroyed and Josef Kleisl built the current two-storey hipped roof building with ridge turrets on the property on behalf of the municipality .

In 1984 the community rebuilt the building. The scales and the extinguishing shed were abandoned. The space gained could be used to expand the restaurant. Among other things, a new hall was added. In 1985 the Schranne was reopened. In 2010 the Edith-Haberland-Wagner-Stiftung (Foundation of the Augustiner Brewery in Munich) bought the building and renovated it to its present condition in accordance with the requirements of the listed building.
