Gasthof Bären

The Gasthof Bären is part of the northern row of houses in the historic village center of Grüningen in the Swiss canton of Zurich . The oldest written mention of the inn comes from the year 1541. The row of houses was part of the city wall and fell victim to fires in 1551 and 1685.

The two parts of the house were combined during the interior renovation in 1764. The dining room was on the first floor and was given a baroque interior with a tiled stove . In 1900 the dining room was moved to the ground floor. In 2009 the north side with the garden terrace was restored. The old, painted ornaments on the ceiling of the tavern were exposed. Christian Mutschler took over the inn in mid-2013.
