The Wordhaus restaurant is a listed building used as a restaurant in Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The house registered in the Quedlinburg monument register is located east of the Quedlinburger Schloßberg in the Westendorf district , at the address Im Wasserwinkel 4 . The Mühlgraben flows west of the house and the building is on the right bank. The property is surrounded by the Wordgarten urban green area .

Architecture and history

The two-storey half - timbered house was built according to a building inscription in 1699 and served as a water mill . Accordingly, the Mühlgraben runs directly on the western outer wall. The upper floor of the house cantilevers over the basement on the north side of the building. The half-timbered facade is decorated with pyramid beam heads. A two-storey side wing was also built in half-timbered construction and dates from 1844.

At least since the beginning of 1993 the house has been operated as the Wordhaus restaurant . The restaurant has 50 seats, in the outdoor area there is space for a further 50 guests depending on the weather. As a specialty, food is offered at the hot table .
