Westendorf (Quedlinburg)
Westendorf is a district of Quedlinburg west of the Schlossberg, which was incorporated into Quedlinburg as a suburb and formerly an independent municipality in 1810 while it belonged to the Kingdom of Westphalia, together with the Neue Weg suburb.
history
Westendorf was first mentioned in a document in 964. Later, the place was until incorporation in the princely office of the abbess of Quedlinburg and finally had 233 houses. The village had its own jury and its own municipal office in the half-timbered building Gildeschaft No. 2, which was demolished in 1976.
The residents of Westendorf were incorporated into the St. Wiperti Church in Quedlinburg.
The legendary Finkenherd was on the corridor of Westendorf.
The Munzenberg settlement was established west of Westendorf in the 16th century.
