Haus Finkenherd 5 is a listed building in the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site .
location
It is located on the north side of the Quedlinburger Schlossberg in the Westendorf district . The building is registered as a residential building in the Quedlinburg monument register.
Architecture and history
The half-timbered house consists of two three-story building sections. The older one faces the street with its eaves and was built around 1640. The half-timbered façade has a seldom-found console frieze on the parapet and filler timber . In addition, there are ship throats and pyramid beam heads as decorations . The part of the building facing the gable was only built around 1800.
In the roof structure of the northern part there are 30 planks that have been painted from the Baroque period and were reused in the construction of the building. They lie on the collar beam as a covering and are four meters long with a width of 0.3 meters each. The visible side of the planks is painted with landscapes and groups of people. There are also depictions of ships, clouds and the sun. Presumably they originally formed a painted wall in a room.
