The Gatto family of organ builders was an Austrian family of organ builders from Krems an der Donau who worked in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Ignaz Gatto the Elder

Ignaz Gatto the Elder (1708–1786) was the most important of the family. He shaped the style of organ building in his region in his time. Among other things, he built the abbey organs from Göttweig , Lilienfeld and Klein-Mariazell (1745), some of which are no longer preserved . Other works are those in the parish churches of Haitzendorf (1781, II / P) and Weißenkirchen in der Wachau (1774, II / P).

Ignaz Gatto the Younger

Ignaz Gatto the Younger (1746–1802), son of the elder, built the late baroque organ in the parish church of Purgstall an der Erlauf in 1792 . This was rebuilt in 1884 and restored in 1980 by Gerhard Hradetzky . Another organ of his is the one in the parish church of Scheibbs . This was originally the organ of the Minorite monastery in Stein and was transferred to Scheibbs after the monastery was dissolved in the course of the Josephine reforms in 1796.

Joseph Gatto the Elder

Joseph Gatto the Elder (1751–1832), son of Ignaz Gatto the Elder, built the organs for the parish churches of Gansbach (1792, I / P) and Kirchberg am Wagram (1787, II / P).

Joseph Gatto the Younger

Joseph Gatto the Younger, grandson of Ignaz Gatto the Elder, created the organ for the “Töpperkapelle” in Neubruck, a district of the district capital Scheibbs, in 1834 .
