The Gauermannhütte is a refuge on the Dürren Wand in the Lower Austrian municipality of Miesenbach . It stands around 5 meters below the summit of the 1154 meter high slab stone.
The refuge, named after the painter Friedrich Gauermann , was built by the Viennese Alpine Society "Waldegger" and opened on October 25, 1908. It is owned by the Austrian Tourist Club and is administered by the "Alpine Society D'Bergwanderer", which was founded on May 5, 1922.
The shortest approach is from Tiefenbach (small, signposted parking lot) via the Ochsenweg in about 1½ hours. Alternatively, after around 100 m to the right over the Schwaighofer farmstead and the east ridge with a walking time of 1½ to 2 hours, whereby the view is more beautiful due to the ridge walk.
