Gauingen is a district of the municipality of Zwiefalten in the Reutlingen district of Baden-Württemberg .

The street village is 2.5 km northwest of Zwiefalten on the Hochalb near the B 312 towards Zwiefalten and Reutlingen . Gauingen is known for its travertine deposits (light limestone).
history
Gauingen is one of the oldest districts of Zwiefalten. The place was mentioned in documents as early as 904 and was once known for its rich fruit growing. The Wendelinus Chapel was built in 1688. After its destruction, the St. Wendelinus Fountain was rebuilt in 1960 from Gauinger travertine.
