Gaume

The Gaume is a historical region of Belgium that now forms part of the province of Luxembourg . It is also understood as the francophone part of the "Belgian Lorraine", in contrast to the Areler Land , which is assigned to the Germanic language area.

Virton is the capital of the Gaume . The boundaries of the Gaume roughly coincide with those of the Arrondissement of Virton .

A special dialect is characteristic of the Gaume, the "Gaumais".
