Gautrachtenfest

The Gautrachtenfest (also often called Gaufest or Gaufest Sunday ) is the most important event in a traditional costume . A festival of this kind is held annually in almost every district in the Bavarian costume association . As a rule, a large beer tent is set up for the Gautrachtenfest .

With over 8000 participating traditional costumes and several thousand other visitors, the Gautrachtenfest of Gauverband I is the largest of its kind.

procedure

Every traditional costume association can apply for the organization in its own district association. A traditional costume association is usually awarded the contract if it celebrates an anniversary in the same year and is of a certain size in order to cope with the associated organizational tasks.

Since each Gauverband organizes its own Gautrachtenfest, there is no completely uniform procedure for all Gautrachtenfeste. Basically, however, it can be divided into two parts. In the morning, all traditional costume associations and their members take part in a church service, which usually takes place outdoors. Later in the afternoon there is a traditional parade through the location of the host association. In between and afterwards there are various interludes in the beer tent, such as dances and platters.

While in some district associations it is only a spectacle lasting a few days, in others numerous other events frame the Gautrachtenfest. This includes classic festival tent events such as beer tapping, cabaret and wine festivals, but also other traditional costume events such as the Gauheimatabend and the Gaupreisplattln. For this reason, the Gautrachtenfest sometimes also refers to the organizer's entire festival program.

District I

The Gauverband I with its 119 affiliated clubs organizes the largest and also the oldest Gautrachtenfest. In addition to the actual Gautrachtenfest, there are a number of other events here.

The Prutting- based traditional costume association "D´ Simsseer" is the organizer of the upcoming Gautrachtenfest 2018.

Chiemgau Alpine Association

The Chiemgau Alpine Association held its 81st Gautrachtenfest in Atzing in 2017 . As with Gauverband I, the festival program also includes many other events in addition to Gaufest Sunday.
