District I
The Gauverband I is the oldest and largest Gauverband (Association) Bavarian mountain costumes Conservation Clubs (GTEV), based in the Bavarian town of Traunstein. The current district director is Peter Eicher. According to its own information, the Gauverband has 119 associations with 40,367 members.
history
After the founding of mountain costume preservation associations in the 1880s, the first umbrella organization of traditional costume associations, today "Gauverband I", was founded on June 1, 1890 in Rosenheim at the suggestion of the still very young Rosenheim Association (GTEV Rosenheim 1- Stamm). The Moosmüller Franz Xaver Huber from Feilnbach was the first chairman of the Gauverband. 15 traditional costume clubs took part in the first Gaufest in Feilnbach in 1891. In 1899, Gauverband I already had 43 traditional costume associations, and in 1906 there were 61 associations. In the course of time, other district associations were founded, such as the Oberlandler Gau in 1899 , the Inngau in 1903 and the Chiemgau Alpine Association in 1926 . On the initiative of Gauverband I, the "United Bavarian Trachtenverband", now the Bavarian Trachtenverband , was founded in 1925 . In 1937, the NSDAP district leadership for Munich-Upper Bavaria ordered the traditional costume clubs to be merged with the National Socialist organization Kraft durch Freude (KdF). After the war, work was resumed as early as 1946.
