Höglwörth is a part of the municipality of Anger in Rupertiwinkel in the Upper Bavarian district of Berchtesgadener Land . For the census on May 25, 1987, 168 inhabitants were recorded in the district typified as a church village , in 45 buildings with living space or 61 apartments.

history

The history of the town is closely connected with the Augustinian Canons Höglwörth on the also the name Höglwörth supporting peninsula and former island in Höglwörther lake , whose foundation is assumed from 1122 to 1129. The place was part of the Prince Archbishopric of Salzburg until 1803 and finally became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1816 .

Before the siltation in the east, today's peninsula was an island ( Wörth is an old word for island), as can also be seen on the land map from the 19th century.
