Söllhuben is a district of the Upper Bavarian municipality of Riedering .
geography
The parish village is located in western Chiemgau on the eastern edge of the municipality between Chiemsee and Simssee . Its location on a hill with a view over the Inn Valley and the mountains makes it a popular destination.
history
It was first mentioned in 924 as "Selihoba" and in 931 as "Selihobon", when the property there was transferred to the Salzburg Episcopal Church . A church is also attested as early as the 10th century. The current parish church of St. Rupert and Martin was built in 1766 in place of the old Gothic church and is the last work of the well-known baroque master builder Johann Michael Fischer . Söllhuben was an independent municipality with fewer than 1000 inhabitants before it was incorporated into the municipality of Riedering on May 1, 1978 .
