Building of the former Gdański Bank

The building of the former Gdański Bank is a historic tenement house in Włocławek , which is located on the corner of Żabia and Królewiecka streets in the Śródmieście (“Inner City”) district.

history

The tenement house was designed in 1911 by the Warsaw architect Stanisław Paszkiewicz and built as the headquarters of the financial company Włocławskie Towarzystwo Wzajemnego Kredytu ( German : the Society of Common Loans Włocławek ) chaired by Ludwik Bauer. The investment was realized by the construction company Leon Bojańczyks from Włocławek under the supervision of the architect Antoni Olszakowski. From 1920 the building was the seat of Bank Kujawski SA in Włocławek. In February 1928 the building became the seat of the Gospodarstwa Krajowego Bank and later the Gdański Bank.

On November 22, 2019, the apartment building was acquired by the Włocławek self-government. In the coming years, one of the projects of the Włocławek Municipal Revitalization Program for the years 2018-2028 will be implemented there: Template: future / in 5 yearsa modern interactive facility will be created with the focus on promoting local traditions, history and art.

architecture

It is a renaissance apartment building, the two-tone front facade of which is richly decorated in clinker bricks and an architectural decoration. In the historical part, the round sales hall with rich stucco decoration and a skylight decorated with colorful glass paintings is noteworthy , while in the newer part of the building the huge door of the treasury, which is hidden in the underground, is an interesting detail.
