The term building security describes some or all of the measures to ensure or improve the security of buildings.

House technical measures

The security of a building can be improved by devices from the field of building services, e.g. B. through security technology or monitoring technology:

Structural measures

In addition to the building services measures, structural measures are also recommended prior to the installation of technical equipment through basic precautions:

  • No or only the most necessary wall openings on the lower floor
  • burglar-proof doors and windows

Monitoring measures of the structural condition

By regularly monitoring the structural condition of a building in order to guarantee the stability and traffic safety of structures. In Germany this is done according to the following guidelines:

  • VDI 6200 - stability of buildings
  • Guideline for the monitoring of the traffic safety of federal structures (RÜV).

In Austria, the ÖNORM B1300, "Object security tests for residential buildings - regular test routines within the framework of visual inspections and non-destructive assessments - principles and checklists" regulates the test obligations.
