Gebauer & Griller is a family-owned Austrian company based in Vienna . It was founded in 1940 and produces electrical cables and cable harnesses as well as special wires for the automotive industry , elevator construction and industrial needs. It supplies special wires for welding applications, photovoltaic modules, electric motors and generators.
The company operates two production sites in Austria, one each in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, India and China as well as two plants each in the Republic of Moldova and Mexico, and has sales and development offices in Germany, Italy and the USA. In the 2019/20 financial year, the company achieved sales of EUR 581 million and employed an average of 4456 people.
history
Gebauer & Griller was founded in 1940 by Karl Griller and Heinrich Gebauer in Vienna as a trading agency for raw materials and semi-finished products. In 1946, Gebauer & Griller opened a metal works in Linz for the production of heating conductors and resistance wires.
In the 1960s the company grew into a manufacturer of plastic cables and wires. Gebauer & Griller developed an underwater telephone cable with plastic insulation, which was first used in Austria. In 1975 Gebauer & Griller opened a cable factory in Poysdorf, Lower Austria .
In 2010 a production facility for the manufacture of elevator cables and photovoltaic elements was opened in Bangalore , India, and in 2012 a plant for the production of automotive cables in Bălți , Republic of Moldova. In 2013, a production facility was established in Vel'lké Leváre , Slovakia, for assembled products for the elevator and escalator industry. In 2014, a plant for battery cable harnesses and supply lines for the automotive industry was built in San Juan del Río , Mexico.
In 2017, the production sites in Mexico and the Republic of Moldova were expanded. The first Gebauer & Griller plant in the People's Republic of China opened in Shenyang .

Automotive
Gebauer & Griller develops and manufactures automotive cables, lines, cable sets and components for energy, data and signal transmission as well as for supplying electrical consumers in vehicles. In 2017, Gebauer & Griller supplied, among other things, starter / generator cable sets and aluminum cable sets for models from Audi, Bentley, BMW and Porsche.
Industry
The plants in Poysdorf and Bangalore as well as the metal plant in Linz manufacture winding wires for use in wind power generators and electric motors, alloys for the welding industry, cell connectors for the photovoltaic industry and cables for industrial use at high temperatures, such as in blast furnaces.
Elevator
In the Elevator division, Gebauer & Griller produces control cables and cable harnesses for the elevator and escalator industry in its plants in Vel'ké Leváre, Poysdorf and Bangalore.
