Schlegel brothers

The two German literary historians, philosophers, publicists and translators August Wilhelm Schlegel (1767-1845) and Friedrich Schlegel (1772-1829) are referred to in literature as the Schlegel brothers . Together with their wives Caroline Schelling and Dorothea Schlegel, both are co-founders of early romanticism . The Schlegel brothers together published the literary magazine Athenaeum , in which they dealt with romantic literature from 1798 to 1800.
