Execution site

The Svanemølle barracks with a training area for the Danish army was located in Ryvangen . After the Danish armed forces were disarmed by the Wehrmacht on August 29 as part of Operation Safari , the German occupying forces used the barracks. The security police used part of the firing range to execute 95 resistance fighters .

memorial

Since people murdered in other parts of the city and those who died for unknown reasons were also brought there, the remains of 202 people were found buried there after the war. These were identified and received an honorable burial in the presence of King Christian X . On May 5, 1950, the fifth anniversary of the liberation of Denmark, the memorial grove in Ryvangen was officially inaugurated and opened to the public.
