The Friedensdorf memorial stone is a listed memorial stone in the Friedensdorf district of the city of Leuna in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments it is listed as a monument under registration number 094 20496 .

General

This memorial stone is a stele that was erected in memory of the Wedell brothers. The brothers Gustav Albert and Carl Lupold Magnus Wilhelm von Wedell were both lieutenants in the Schill Free Corps and were shot on September 16, 1809 outside Wesel on the orders of Napoleon . The memorial stone has stood on an open space in the center of the village since 1909 and was made of red porphyry by the sculptor Paul Juckoff from Schkopau . The original memorial stone was crowned by an eagle killing a snake . The front bore a portrait of Gustav Albert von Wedell with his signature. The portrait was later replaced by an inscription.
