Gedeon Fritz

Gedeon Michael Fritz (born July 13, 1892 in Mittelberg ; † July 18, 1950 there ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP / ÖVP ) as well as a farmer and innkeeper. He was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from 1932 to 1934 and from 1945 to 1949 .

education and profession

Fritz attended the one-class primary school in Mittelberg from 1898 to 1901 and then from 1901 to 1906 the one-class emergency school in Mittelberg-Bödmen. He graduated from the Feldkirch private trade school from 1906 to 1908 and then worked in his parents' company as a farmer and innkeeper from 1908, where he ran the Gasthaus zur Gemse. He did his military service in 1913 and served on the Russian and Italian fronts between 1915 and 1918 during the First World War.

Politics and functions

Fritz was a member of the Christian Social Party in the interwar period and was active as a community representative in Mittelberg. He was a member of this body between 1919 and 1938 and was first councilor and mayor from 1929 to 1936. He then held the position of mayor from 1936 to 1938. In addition, from November 22, 1932 to November 13, 1934, he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament and a member of the agricultural committee. In 1938 he was taken into " protective custody " for 18 days .

Even after the Second World War, he was a member of the municipal council and mayor of Mittelberg from 1945 to 1950, where he led the departments for presidential and personnel matters, police, finance, schooling, road and traffic and tourism. As a member of the Bregenz constituency , he was again a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from December 11, 1945 to October 24, 1949. He was a member of the Finance Committee between 1945 and 1949.

Fritz was a member of the Mittelberg church choir, member of the music band, member of the Mittelberg theater association, member of the Mittelberg volunteer fire brigade and chairman of the warrior and comradeship association .

Private

Fritz father, Karl Ludwig Norbert Fritz (1859-1917) was an innkeeper, farmer and mayor of Mittelberg, his mother Maria Katharina Fritz (1851-1924), née Kessler, also came from Mittelberg. Fritz married Maria Anna Fritz (1891–1969) on April 11, 1921 and had three sons and a daughter, who were born between 1922 and 1927.
