Gediminas Mesonis

Gediminas Mesonis (* 1968 in Vilnius , Lithuania ) is a Lithuanian constitutional lawyer , professor of public law and judge at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania (2011–2020).

Life

From 1986 to 1991 graduated in physics at the Vilniaus pedagoginis universitetas and became a teacher. In 1996 he completed his bachelor's degree and in 1998 his master's degree at the Mykolas-Romeris University (MRU). On December 1, 2000 he did his doctorate at the Lietuvos teisės universitetas on the subject of "Lithuanian form of government: Comparison in the context of the CEEC " (Lietuvos valdymo forma: lyginamasis aspektas Vidurio ir Rytų Europos kontekste) . He works as a professor at the MRU . His fields of study include comparative law and Lithuanian constitutional law . His research areas are also the form of government and the separation of powers, parliamentarism and human rights. Since 2006 he has been Professor of the Chair of Constitutional Law and since March 15, 2011 a judge at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania.

Gediminas Mesonis has published over 10 scientific articles in legal magazines in Lithuania and abroad and has participated in international conferences. He was visiting professor at the Universities of Bonn , Kiel (Institute for Eastern European Law), Utrecht ( Netherlands ) and Brescue ( Italy ).

Mesonis is married. He has a son and a daughter with Ms. Simona, Director of the Administrative and Criminal Justice Department of the Lithuanian Ministry of Justice .
