Geert Jahresig (born March 29, 1967 ) is a former German swimming athlete and Paralympics participant in 1992.

Career

Geert Jahresig comes from Leipzig . As a member of BV Leipzig , he joined the A-team and specialized in backstroke swimming . In the German national para swimming team he was used in international competitions and won three gold medals at the European Championships in 1990, then another gold medal at the World Championships over 100 m back. After these successes, he was also part of the German team that took part in the 1992 Summer Paralympics in Barcelona , and won the 100 m backstroke. Then he took part again in the 1994 World Championships, where he was second in the 100 m back.

For winning a medal at the 1992 Summer Paralympics, he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker .
