List of apple varieties |
Gehrers Rambour is a variety of apples that is particularly used as a juice and cider apple due to its acidity.
description
The variety is probably a chance seedling of the Trier red wine apple that originated in Göppingen in 1885 .
As a triploid variety, it is a poor pollen donor.
The medium-sized to large fruits, with their green base color and red to brownish-red covering color, are ripe for picking in mid to late October. The fruits should be processed quickly after harvest as they are very susceptible to fruit rot.
