description

The yellow-browed spectacle bird reaches a length of 12.7 centimeters. The top is olive green. The coat and rump are vivid olive green. The skull is greenish-olive with a dark brown wash. The head is marked by a pale sulfur-yellow rein line. A sulphurous yellow eyebrow stripe can be seen above the rein line, which extends to the temple. There is a white eye ring around the iris. The head sides are olive gray with a silvery sheen. The underside is sulfur yellow. The flanks are washed out olive green. His singing consists of bubbling trills.

Habitat and way of life

The yellow-browed spectacled bird is found on the Indonesian islands of Sumbawa and Flores . It lives in mountain forests at altitudes between 1,000 and 2,100 m. It can be observed most numerous in closed forests at altitudes between 1,600 and 1,800 m. He lives on the middle floor of the forest and goes foraging in small groups. Occasionally it can also be found in mixed flocks of birds. Its diet consists of insects.
