Gender competence
As a key professional qualification, gender competence is the ability to recognize relevant gender aspects and work on them in a gender- oriented manner. Gender competence is a prerequisite for successful gender mainstreaming and relates to the following areas:
- Knowledge and understanding of gender roles and gender relationships and insight into their changeability
- Knowledge of facts and figures on the situation of women and men as well as the approaches of the women's and men's movement
- Sensitivity to structures of discrimination
- Knowledge of strategies for implementing gender mainstreaming
- Ability to consider and implement gender-sensitive and gender-appropriate approaches
- Examination of competencies and potentials in connection with gender-specific socialization
- Awareness raising among executives
