GeneSat-1 was a small technology testing satellite from NASA's Ames Research Center .

He was born on 16 December 2006 with the Minotaur I - carrier rocket from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport started from. A bacterial culture ( Escherichia coli ) was on board , the development of which was monitored. The satellite burned up on August 4, 2010.
