Intergraph is a software company in the segment Spatial Information Management (SIM, fachsprachlich for geo-referenced information management ), public security, geographic information systems (GIS) and engineering and process technology , headquartered in Huntsville , Alabama in the USA. In early July 2010, Intergraph was acquired by Hexagon AB , Sweden, for approximately US $ 2.1 billion .

The aim is to manage and visualize complex data in an understandable and practicable manner - mostly using visualization components such as digital maps - in order to be able to make operational decisions better and faster, to generate "intelligent maps", to manage task-related operating facilities and infrastructures, systems and Build and operate ships, operate command systems and ensure public safety.

Intergraph has existed in the USA since 1969 and in Germany since 1978.

Plant Design System / SmartPlant & SmartMarine

Plant Design System (PDS) is a plant planning system by Intergraph that was first introduced on Unix-based computers in 1984. With this engineering software it was already possible to plan large industrial plants quickly and easily. The software has the following options: intelligent drawing of process diagrams (Schematics Environment), transfer to a 3D planning landscape with the features of mechanical engineering (Equipment Modeling), steel construction (FrameWorks Environment), pipeline planning (Piping Designer), cable routes and electronics planning (Electrical Raceway Environment) and automatic generation of 2D derivations (Drawing Manager + Isomatric Drawing Manager). PDS was later ported to Windows NT 3.5 machines. Version 11.01 now exists with certification on Windows 7 and Windows 2008 based on IBM PCs.

SmartPlant Enterprise and SmartMarine Enterprise are two modular successor solutions that are divided into different components:

  • 3D modeling and visualization - Enables the optimal use of existing knowledge, high-quality and uniform designs and the global use of best practices.
  • Information management - Offers a holistic concept for the electronic generation, storage and management of design data over the entire life cycle.
  • Engineering and schemes - Covers the system front-end and detailed planning with regard to system configurations, control systems and power supply.
  • Procurement, manufacturing and construction - Covers the entire spectrum in project execution, from engineering to procurement and monitoring to construction.
  • Analysis - Combines plant design and engineering analysis with plant analysis solutions that provide accurate and reliable results.
  • Industry solutions for system owners / operators

A competing product is the Plant Design Management System (PDMS) from AVEVA .

In the German-speaking area, numerous large corporations and small engineering offices are used.

An annual user conference called CEGUG takes place in this software segment .

GeoMedia

GeoMedia is a geographic information system (GIS) introduced by Intergraph in 1997 . GeoMedia refers to a comprehensive software product family, mainly divided into desktop GIS (GeoMedia and GeoMedia Professional) and web GIS (GeoMedia WebMap and GeoMedia WebMap Professional). In addition, there are other GeoMedia solutions for municipal issues, terrain / elevation model processing, processing of raster / vector images, etc. and finally GeoMedia Plus with strong CAD components.

The main competitor is the ArcGIS product from ESRI , behind which GeoMedia takes just under second place on the global and German-speaking markets.

In Germany the GeoMedia software is used by numerous state administrations, municipalities, companies and universities.

Total Intergraph recorded in Germany over 3,000 customers, starting with the Deutsche Bahn , various utilities of E.ON -Konzerngruppe that RWE , the German armed forces , the Bavarian police , about Edeka , Bavarian savings banks , industrial parks such as Infraserv Höchst and Bayer AG , to to large, medium-sized, small towns and municipalities.
