Geo TV

Geo TV or GEO Television is a Pakistani television station that was founded in May 2002 and officially began broadcasting in October 2002.

The station's headquarters are in Dubai , United Arab Emirates . Mir Khalil ur Rehman was the founder of the station.

The name has its origin on the one hand in the use of a geosynchronous satellite to transmit the program. However, the word “Geo” in Urdu , the official language of Pakistan, also means “live” as well as “Live!” And “Live high!” ( Urdu جیو, jīo ).

Geo TV network

The popularity of Geo has grown rapidly among news viewers in Pakistan and beyond. Therefore, in 2003 the number of channels was increased from one to four:

  • Geo entertainment
  • Geo News
  • Geo Super (sports channel, but no more live broadcasts since 2018)
  • Geo Tez (News Channel , from Urdu تیز, tez , "fast, sharp, hot ")
  • AAG TV (youth channel, from Urdu آگ, āg , "fire")

Geo English and Geo Kids were planned channels, but for various reasons they could not be put into practice.
