Geoffrey James Jackson

Geoffrey James Jackson (born February 25, 1929 in Stamford , Lincolnshire , † August 31, 1986 ) was a Canadian civil engineer.

Career

The son of Philip Richard and Carrie Ellen Jackson attended Stamford School and studied at Loughborough College of Technology, where he received his degree in civil engineering in 1954.

He moved to Montreal and worked as a design engineer for Dominion Structural Steel. In 1960 he moved to Canron Ltd. as General Manager. (Eastern Structural Division) in Toronto and in 1965 as General Sales Manager for Dominion Bridge Co. Ltd. in Ontario.

At Frankel Structural Steel Ltd. in Milton, Ontario , he started as Vice President in 1968, became Executive Vice President four years later and President in 1975. Since 1962 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) and 1976–1978 its chairman. He also chaired the Interim Board of Governors of the Steel Structures Education Foundation (SSFE), which has awarded a GJ Jackson Fellowship since 1988 .
