Geoffroi Le Maingre (also Le Meingre , * in Touraine ; † around February 13, 1370 in Bologna ) was a French prelate of the 14th century. From 1363 he was Bishop and Duke of Laon and thus Pair de France .

Geoffroi Le Maingre comes from Touraine , his parents are unknown. His brother is Jean I. Le Maingre called Boucicaut , who became Marshal of France in 1356 . He was destined for your career in the Church (and therefore probably younger than Jean) and initially appears as Dean of the Church of Tours . In 1363, seven years after his brother had become marshal, he was appointed Bishop of Laon to succeed Robert Le Coq , with the title of Duke and the rank of Pair de France.

In 1364 he took part in the coronation of King Charles V and the following year at the meeting of the greats of the empire in Paris. In the same year he released the mayor and councilors of Laon from the feudal oath to which they had been held since the episcopate of Bishop Garnier (1238-1248).

He traveled to Bologna to see Pope Urban V , who wanted to transfer to the diocese of Le Mans in 1366 in order to free the bishopric in Laon for Jean d'Anguerant , Bishop of Chartres . Both bishops rejected the change.

Geoffroi Le Maingre died around February 13, 1370 in Bologna. His successor in Laon was Pierre Aycelin de Montaigut .
