Georg Anreith

Georg Anreith (* 1751 in Riegel am Kaiserstuhl , † 1823 in Steinamanger ) was a German builder who worked primarily in Hungary. His brother Anton Anreith (1754–1822) was a sculptor in South Africa.

life and work

He was an apprentice to Melchior Hefele and worked from 1778 to 1781 at the Bishop's Palace in Pressburg . He later worked in Silesia , but then came back to Hefele in 1791 to build the cathedral in Steinamanger, which Anreith continued after Hefele's death in 1794 and completed after two decades. The lyceum in Steinamanger is one of his works.
