Georg Borchardt

Georg Borchardt (* 1934 ) is a German music and literary scholar who gives lectures.

Life

Georg Borchardt founded the Gustav Mahler Association Hamburg in 1988 and is its general secretary . He was able to win Leonard Bernstein as honorary president for the Hamburg Mahler Association. Borchardt was a freelancer for the daily newspaper Die Welt . From the 1970s to the turn of the century he was one of the most renowned music reviewers in Hamburg.

In 1991 Borchardt created the exhibition Gustav Mahler's Hamburg Years 1891–1897 on behalf of the Hamburg State Opera . In the same year Borchardt's play Verlorene Feldwacht , a montage of texts from Karl Kraus ' anti-war drama The Last Days of Mankind and songs by Gustav Mahler, premiered at the Opera stable in Hamburg.
